As the nights draw in and the air turns crisp, there’s a quiet magic that arrives with autumn. It’s a time for slowing down, lighting candles, warming soups on the stove and filling our homes with nature’s own decorations.
As the nights draw in and the air turns crisp, there’s a quiet magic that arrives with autumn. It’s a time for slowing down, lighting candles, warming soups on the stove and filling our homes with nature’s own decorations.

This little corner of our home has become a celebration of the season. A simple basket of pumpkins, gathered pinecones, dried grasses and wooden textures — nothing complicated, just pieces that bring warmth and grounding to a room.

There’s something incredibly comforting about the colour palette this time of year gives us: deep oranges, soft browns, the honey-gold tones of dried stems and branches. Even the smallest display can make a space feel more lived-in and loved.

Bring the Outdoors In

Take a slow walk and collect what catches your eye — pinecones, fallen leaves, seed pods, branches. Nature is generous at this time of year.

Choose Simple, Natural Decor

Pumpkins, wooden bowls, woven baskets and handmade pieces all help create a feeling of warmth that doesn’t overwhelm your space.

Create a Quiet Moment

A cosy corner can simply be a place to pause — a reminder to breathe, rest and enjoy the unfolding season.

At Hickory Dickory Designs, we love creating pieces that become part of these moments — thoughtful gifts, keepsakes and seasonal decorations that hold meaning and memory. Autumn is one of our favourite times to design for, and we hope our work finds a place in your own seasonal rituals.

Wishing you a warm, bright and cosy October.
