Guess That's Autumn
After such a long, hot and incredibly dry summer, there’s something rather beautiful about seeing the first signs of autumn appear.
The flowers in this little wreath have been left to do what nature intended. Rather than being cut at their colourful peak, many of these stems were gathered after they had flowered and gone to seed, when the summer heat had dried them naturally.
There is something wonderfully timeless about dried flowers.
Their colours may have softened, their petals may have become delicate and their seed heads a little weathered, but rather than losing their beauty, they have taken on a completely different character. They remind us that nature doesn't always need to be perfect to be beautiful.
I particularly love the way dried flowers bring the outside in.
Their natural textures, muted colours and unusual shapes create something that feels wonderfully organic and uncontrived. They don't need to be perfect, and they don't need to be replaced when the next season arrives.
Perhaps that's why I'm so drawn to nature-inspired products at Hickory Dickory Designs too.

There is something very special about materials that have their own character and imperfections, whether that's a piece of beautiful birch plywood or a collection of dried seed heads gathered from the garden.
After a summer of intense heat and sunshine, these dried flowers feel like a little record of the season we've just had.
And perhaps that's what I love most about them.
They remind us that beauty doesn't disappear when a season ends — it simply changes. 🍂
